Extra Large Extreme Weather Dog Flap for uPVC Door Panels

The Extra Large Extreme Weather Dog Flap for uPVC door panels is designed for larger dogs where you need a strong, durable pet door combined with improved protection against draughts and cold weather.

This is a complete uPVC panel installation kit designed for common 20mm, 24mm and 28mm uPVC door panels. It includes a frame extension that fits behind the standard frame on the inside of the door.

The frame extension moves the internal side of the dog door away from the uPVC panel, helping the large slide-in closing panel clear the surrounding door mid-rail when it is lifted into position.

Important – Check Your Door Mid-Rail Before Ordering

Please check the height and position of the mid-rail in your uPVC door before ordering.

uPVC doors vary considerably in design. The supplied frame extension is designed to provide additional clearance between the internal slide-in panel and the surrounding uPVC door frame, but you should check the available space on your particular door before installation.

Internal Frame Extension

The supplied frame extension / packer must be fitted to the internal face of the door.

The extension increases the depth of the internal frame so that the slide-in closing panel sits further away from the face of the uPVC panel. This helps the closing panel miss the thicker mid-rail surrounding the thinner door panel.

The packer requires a larger cut-out than the standard pet door installation. See the dimensions below before cutting your panel.

Triple-Flap Extreme Weather Design

The Extreme Weather Dog Door uses a three-flap system to help reduce draughts and cold air passing through the pet opening.

The inner and outer flaps are manufactured from strong, flexible material and use magnets to help them return to the closed position after your dog passes through.

Between the two flexible flaps is a lightweight insulating centre flap. Although relatively slim, this additional layer helps reduce heat transfer through the dog door compared with a conventional single-flap design.

Adjustable Triple Flaps

The triple-flap system can be adjusted after the dog door has been installed. This allows the flaps to be correctly aligned so that they move freely and return to their proper closed position.

Correct flap alignment is particularly important with a large dog door because it helps the magnets engage correctly and reduces unnecessary draughts.

Strong Aluminium Frame

The outer frame is manufactured from aluminium, providing a strong and durable structure suitable for larger and more active dogs.

The robust aluminium construction also makes this dog door suitable for many kennels, outbuildings and other locations where a strong pet door is required.

Internal Slide-In Closing Panel

The door includes a strong internal slide-in closing panel which can be used when you want to prevent your dog from using the door.

The closing panel is also useful overnight and during particularly cold or windy weather, providing an additional barrier across the pet opening.

Packer Cut-Out

The 365mm x 461mm cut-out is for the packer / frame extension and is intentionally larger.

The frame extension forms part of the installation into the thinner uPVC panel and provides the additional internal clearance required for the closing panel.

Internal Closing Panel Clearance

Because this is an Extra Large dog door, considerable space is required on the inside of the door to lift the closing panel in and out.

Required internal clearance: approximately 413mm wide x 1378mm high.

This is why it is particularly important to check the position of any horizontal mid-rail before ordering.

Installation Tips

• Measure the thickness of your uPVC panel before ordering.
• Check the height and position of the door mid-rail.
• Fit the frame extension / packer to the inside of the door.
• Remember that the packer requires the larger cut-out specified above.
• Check that sufficient vertical space is available for the slide-in closing panel.
• Do not over-tighten the fixing screws.
• Check the actual components and measurements before making the final cut in your door panel.

Important Security Information

This Extra Large dog flap is large enough for a person to reach or potentially pass through and must not be relied upon as a security barrier.

Consider carefully where the dog door is installed. Make sure somebody reaching through the opening cannot access door handles, keys, locks, windows or other security devices.

Additional security may be required on internal doors or elsewhere in the property.

Caution: The opening is large enough for a small child to pass through. Extra care and appropriate supervision are required in homes where young children are present.
